MESSAGE FROM OUR DEPARTMENT HEAD
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the midwife is
defined as the person who provides the necessary care and
counseling during pregnancy, birth and after birth, who has normal
births under his own responsibility, and who provides consultancy
for the care of the newborn and family planning.
The midwifery profession, which has existed since ancient times, is
now among the contemporary professions with graduate and
doctoral programs has taken. The International Confederation of
Midwives (ICM), World Health Organization and UNICEF emphasize
that "the world needs more midwives than ever before" to reduce
maternal-infant mortality and cesarean rates.
Purpose of our Midwifery Department; in the light of universal and
cultural values, respectful to human rights, having lifelong learning,
teaching and communication skills, fulfilling competent midwifery
services in professional and scientific fields, able to respond to the
changing needs of society, focused on science and technology
production, having universal values, questioning, productive, to
train midwives who adopt group work and conduct evidence-based
research.
